The dastardly Tempus Fugitives are stealing entire universes by erasing key artefacts from time and space! Enlist with TimePeace Academy and help save reality!
Museums Sheffield approached us with a brief to deliver a game that would promote the free Wi-Fi in Weston Park Museum, but also provide a fresh, engaging way for visitors to experience the museum’s collections and exhibits.
In addition to providing an exciting welcome to first-time visitors, ‘Attack of the Tempus Fugitives’ offers a new perspective for visitors who think they’ve seen everything the museum has to offer. If knowledge is power, then it made sense to us that discovering new things about Weston Park’s inventory could save entire universes!
Collaborating closely with Museums Sheffield, the team created a browser game for mobile, tablet and laptop devices that encourages exploration and challenges the player to find specific artefacts that hold reality together while discovering which of several options is correct in our universe.
The game is essentially a digital treasure hunt wrapped up in a lively adventure narrative. In addition to the game, the team equipped Weston Park with its own ‘Reality Matrix‘ – a live totaliser displaying players’ scores in the heart of the museum and visualising the ongoing conflict between the heroic TimePeace Academy and the Tempus Fugitives.
Finally, we also provided Weston Park with the tools to add additional exhibits and give new life to forgotten objects so that the game will grow and evolve alongside the museum.
