Jeem TV is Al-Jazeera’s free-to-air children’s channel providing education and entertainment for younger audiences. We were stoked to be asked to create several games featuring popular puppet presenter, Anbar – a mischievous boy with a sense of adventure and big dreams of fame and glory – for what would be the first bespoke content on their new site.
The Marathon puts you in Anbar’s excitable shoes as he sets out to explore Qatar’s capital city of Doha, leaping from roof-top to roof-top. We’ve plenty of experience developing branded running games for our client so the team were able to confidently create the game with a swift turnaround. Additionally, to push ourselves, this runner features extra spins on the usual running game format including collectible coins, bouncing on tarpaulins for an extra boost and being able to grab onto low-flying aircraft for a little lift to help you on your way.
The Marathon is multi-lingual, creating both Arabic and English versions of titles, instructions and Anbar’s own dialogue. As always the team strived to balance the game’s challenges with addictive play and had a great deal of fun exploring Doha themselves to research the game’s look and feel. In its first few weeks of release, The Marathon is the most popular game on Jeem TV’s website with an incredible average play time of 20 minutes.
So why not join Anbar and take a tour of Doha yourselves?
